Veterans & Returning Customers Save 10%

Meet the Local Crew That Shows Up and Does the Job Right

Flathead Junk Removal was founded in 2023 with a simple idea behind it: treat every property and every customer the way we would want our own family treated. We’re based in Woodbridge, Virginia, serving residential and commercial customers throughout Northern Virginia with straightforward junk removal, hauling, cleanouts, and large-item removal.

Owner Ken Matejek, a U.S. Navy veteran, brings more than 13 years of experience and a practical work ethic shaped by discipline, respect, and following through on what you say you’ll do. Flathead isn’t a national chain or franchise. When you call us, you’re working with local people who actually show up, do the lifting, and stand behind the work.

That means arriving when we say we will, looking at the job in person, and giving you an upfront on-site price before anything gets loaded. There’s no guessing about the cost once the work starts. We handle everything from appliances, furniture, mattresses, treadmills, and bulky household items to hot tubs, sheds, estate cleanouts, move-outs, garages, basements, storage units, disaster debris, and construction waste.

What leaves your property also matters to us. Usable items are considered for donation, recyclable materials are separated when possible, and the landfill is treated as the last option. It’s a straightforward way of working that reflects who we are and how we want to serve our neighbors across Northern Virginia

Meet the Owner Behind Flathead

Ken Matejek is the owner of Flathead Junk Removal and a U.S. Navy veteran. He built the business around values that have followed him through more than 13 years of hands-on experience: discipline, respect, honest work, and getting the job finished correctly.

For Ken, local ownership means more than putting Woodbridge, VA, on a business card. It means answering to the people who live and work in the same Northern Virginia communities he serves. Flathead is owner-operated, not a franchise, so the standards behind the business come directly from the person whose name and reputation are attached to every job.

That approach carries into everything from a single appliance pickup to a full estate or disaster cleanout. Customers get a clear on-site price, a crew prepared for the lifting and hauling, and someone who takes responsibility for how the property is treated from arrival through cleanup.

Show Up and Follow Through

Show Up and Follow Through

For us, good service starts before anything gets lifted. It starts with showing up when we said we would and treating your time like it matters. Ken built Flathead Junk Removal around the discipline and accountability he carried from his U.S. Navy service. If we tell you we’re coming, we come prepared to work. We look at what needs to go, explain what the job involves, and give you the on-site price before loading begins. You shouldn’t have to chase down a crew, wonder when someone will arrive, or sort through vague pricing after the fact. That straightforward approach applies whether we’re picking up one couch, clearing a packed garage, dismantling a shed, or hauling debris from an entire property. The job may change, but the expectation does not: respect the customer, respect the property, and finish what we came to do.

Treat the Property With Respect

Junk removal involves more than getting heavy things into a truck. A refrigerator may need to come up basement stairs. A treadmill may need to be taken apart before it fits through the doorway. A mattress may have to travel through a tight hallway, and a hot tub or shed may require controlled dismantling right where it sits. We plan around the property instead of forcing the job. As a licensed and insured local business, we take care around floors, walls, doors, stairs, yards, and work areas while we lift and load. You don’t need to drag heavy items to the curb or risk hurting yourself trying to move something awkward. Point out what needs to leave, and we’ll figure out how to get it out safely. Once the hauling is finished, we clean up the immediate work area rather than leaving scattered debris behind.

Comprehensive

Nobody wants to watch a hauling bill change while their belongings are already sitting in the truck. That is why our pricing starts on site, before the work begins. We look at how much material you have, how heavy it is, and how easy or difficult it will be to access. From there, we give you the price so you can make the decision before anything is loaded. Our minimum charge is $250, covering fuel, labor, dump and disposal fees, taxes, and more. We also accept cash and check for straightforward payment once the work is complete. Veterans and returning customers receive 10% off, which is our way of giving something back to people who have served and customers who choose to work with us again. Clear pricing keeps the conversation simple and lets everyone know what to expect.
